H.E. Ambassador Liu Zhenmin
Permanent Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the United Nations

Ambassador LIU Zhenmin is the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Deputy Permanent Representative of China to the UN in New York. He joined the diplomatic service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China in 1982. Since that time he had occupied numerous positions at the Department of Treaty and Law of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China (1982-1992). From 1992 to 1995, he held positions as Second Secretary, later First Secretary, of Permanent Mission of China to the UN Office at Geneva and also worked in other international organizations in Switzerland. After that, he served as First Secretary, Counsellor, Deputy Director-General, and Director-General of Department of Treaty and Law of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China between 1996 and 2006. He is a native of Shanxi Province. He graduated from the Department of English Language and Literature of Peking University in 1978, and from the Law School of Peking University with a degree of LLM in 1981.
