John White
Executive Director, Center for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Technologies
V. John White is the Executive Director of the Center for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Technologies (CEERT), which he co-founded in 1990. CEERT is a nonprofit coalition of the nation’s leading public interest environmental groups and businesses working on energy efficiency and renewable technologies. Through its public education, policy research, and advocacy programs, CEERT helps design and implement public policies, market reforms and legislative strategies to integrate efficiency, alternative fuels, and renewable technologies into the electricity and transportation systems in California and the West.
Mr. White also is a legislative advocate and political consultant, working with environmental groups such as the Sierra Club, the Clean Power Campaign, and the Natural Resources Defense Council. In addition, he advocates on behalf of governmental agencies and private companies.
John served as a senior policy consultant for nine years on the staff of the California Assembly. Over the course of his 25-year career, he has been involved in the drafting, negotiation, and passage of landmark air quality and energy legislation and innovative regulatory programs to accelerate improvements in air quality and the deployment of alternative energy sources.
Mr. White has served on the board of directors of several community-based organizations and public agencies, including the Sacramento AIDS Foundation and the California Independent System Operators. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the California League of Conservation Voters, the CLCV Education Fund, and the Renewable Northwest Project. He has been a guest lecturer on public policy and environmental issues at several universities and colleges.
He is a native of Pasadena, California and a graduate of the University of California at Riverside.
