Ruth Watson
UN NGO Representative, Baptist World Alliance (BWA)
Ruth Watson is the former Associate Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University, Garrett Theological Seminary and New York Theological Seminary.
She has been the former Coordinator of Mission Education for the United Methodist Church Board of Global Ministries; she has also been serving as the Northern Illinois Conference Director of Children's Ministries, U.M.C., Local Church Director of Christian Education, LaGrange, at Illinois Baptist Church.
Ms. Watson has graduated from University of Chicago Divinity School, M.A., and University of Virginia, DAGS. In her studies, she has been specialized at Baptist Missionary Training School, which is now a part of the Colgate Rochester Crozier BMTS Divinity School, Rochester, NY.
Currently after her retirement she coordinates their local church's 60-year-old English Conversation Program for graduate students; is active in local and global Justice and Peace issues.
As NGO representative to the United Nations for the Baptist World Alliance, she works ecumenically with national, indigenous, NGO, denominational, global issues of Freedom of Religion Disarmament and Human Rights, trying to mitigate the Racist, Materialistic and Militaristic foibles of the time.
