Embassy of Brunei Darussalam to the United States
Pengiran Anak Puteh became ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to the United States of America in February 1997 and concurrently non-resident ambassador to the Republic of Peru and Mexico. Ambassador Puteh was educated in the United Kingdom at London and Oxford Universities. He also received his master’s degree in International Relations from Tufts University in the United States and Master of Jurisprudence from the School of Law, University of Birmingham, United Kingdom. He also studied at the School of International Arbitration, Centre for Commercial Law Studies, Queen Mary, University of London and obtained his Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration (with Distinction). He is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in London, UK.
Ambassador Puteh began his career in the Brunei’s administration service as a Senior Administrative Officer for the Public Service Commission and then as Director of the Department of Protocol and Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1986, he was posted to Tokyo as Ambassador of Brunei to Japan and in 1987 became the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ambassador Puteh is married to Datin Kamilah Binti Abdullah and has two daughters. His hobbies include squash and golf.
