Athgo International is currently accepting applications for internships at its Third Annual Global Forum titled “Miracles of Development: Good Governance and Capacity Building.” The event will be held at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington D.C.
All interns will be expected to attend the mandatory internship training on July 8, 2008 at 1:00 pm (Preston Auditorium) and the Forum itself will take place on July 9-11, 2008. Interns will need to arrive at least one hour before the beginning of the program each day and will be required to stay at least one hour after the end of each program day. Interns will need to plan their travel arrangements accordingly.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Interns play a critical role in the success of the event. The following is a representative list of various roles that interns will play, in addition to providing general administrative and logistical support:
- Group Leader - Lead individual group sessions and provide support to group members as they work toward developing implementation strategies
- Protocol - Greet speakers and interact with VIPs and other invited guests, providing information about the forum and answering any questions or concerns they have
- Chairman's Assistant - Work closely with Athgo Chairman throughout the event
- Event Coordinator - Work directly with Athgo Program Director, Master of Ceremonies, and/or Moderators
- Journalist - Create a forum summary, which will be posted on Athgo website and distributed to participants and participating organizations
- Master of Ceremonies - Take to the stage and open and close the event, introduce our speakers, and entertain the audience
- Moderators - Execute and facilitate questions for our final day's participant-led panels
- Interviewer - Work with the Audio/Video team and interview speakers, guests and participants throughout the event

Please note that this is an UNPAID internship and interns must provide for their own transportation and lodging for the duration of the event.
Visa information: Any fees regarding visa process are the responsibility of the applicant. Athgo
International will assist you and provide an invitation letter. Please note, however, that it is your responsibility to ensure that you have obtained the visa. Athgo
International has no control over the visa process and cannot guarantee that your visa application will be accepted.
Requirements:
Personal Statement: All applicants must submit a one page personal statement addressing one of the following:
- If a newspaper were to do a story about your life to date, what would they write about?
- Describe your unique qualities and passion for your advocacy work and what led you toward that work or schooling?
- Describe a moment in your life or a situation that occurred that impacted how you live your life today?
