“I am a firm believer that when people learn
experientially, they grow exponentially; the Washington, D.C.
forum was certainly a milestone experience in my personal
development. I think the most enjoyable part of the forum
was working with my group, comprised of students with varying
opinions. Our group dynamic made for interesting discussion and
debate and our diverse view points and experience not only
resulted in a set of well crafted suggestions but also opened my
eyes to how grand the issues of our world truly are.
Although the efforts of the individual are crucial,
congruence breeds progress and collaboration breeds synergy when
it comes to improving our world. At the end of the forum,
all participates wrote an individual paper. I used the
assignment as a way to incorporate my experience of the
forum into the foundation of my education in economics and
international relations. In addition to providing invaluable
experience to the participants, the process also results in some
wonderful recommendations made to the United Nations. Education
ought not to only be the infusion of knowledge into eager minds,
but also a forum for discovery, research, and simulation that
can be applied to real world problems.”
