Clairneige Motzoi is completing her PhD in Clinical
Psychology at Concordia University in Montreal, where she
combines her personal approach to advocacy with an empirical
approach to public health and community development, both
locally and internationally. Through her work, Clairneige hopes
to have an impact at both the individual and societal level, the
latter by way social policy and community development.
“I learned that the process, despite being at times
politically motivated, consistently raised the need for specific
types of research, which strengthened my decision to pursue a
career in psychological research relevant to international
policy...I became convinced that multi-disciplinary teams would
be invaluable in writing international health and social policy
and in carrying out related research.
Since the forum I have been involved in fostering
collaboration between the fields on psychology and international
development...I presented and facilitated an academic community
discussion on the role of psychology and developmental research
in the international health and social policy process, held at
the Centre for Research in Human Development at Concordia
University. As well, I wrote an article encouraging clinical
psychologists to become involved in the international policy
process and I have also become involved with a couple of NGOs
working to meet the millennium development goals in different
countries.”
