Isis Frisch is currently studying Russian and focusing on
complementary courses to her Master thesis on design and
development. In the first half of her studies, she focused
mainly on Latin America and the economic, political and cultural
dynamics that have formed the development process in its
history.
She worked at Amnesty International and Terres des Hommes,
where she gained insight into development organisations and the
bureaucracy and is preparing for an internship at the UNIDO in
Cairo and hopes to complete her courses and begin work on her
dissertation in the coming year.
“Professionally the Athgo forum helped me recall times
at the Model United Nations in The Hague, when we were taught
the formal procedures and style of writing policy proposals etc.
Also, speaking in front of a large audience is, for me, always a
challenge and any opportunity to practice I consider as a
possibility to improve my public speaking skills.
I relished the well blended combination of formality and
casualness at the meetings, remaining professional at all times
but showing a certain group dynamic. Personally the forum
was the greatest gain for me. I met many wonderful people with
whom I still stay in contact. Working in a new environment with
many different people is one of the things I enjoy most and look
forward to many more moments like this.”
