Darel Tai Engen, PhD
Vice President, Education and Training
Dr. Engen has served as the Vice President of Education
and Training of Athgo International since 2002. He has
taught at UCLA, Gonzaga University, and is currently an
Associate Professor of History at California State
University, San Marcos. For the past twelve years he has
conducted a travel study program in Greece for UCLA
Summer Sessions. Dr. Engen has published numerous
articles on the ancient Greek economy and is presently
working on a book: “Honor and Profit: Athenian Trade
Policy and the Economy and Society of Greece, 415-307
B.C.E”. His experience with students in the classrooms
and in organizing student travels abroad has contributed
greatly to Athgo International’s global outreach goals.
He earned a Bachelors of Arts in Economics and a Ph.D.
in Ancient Greek History from UCLA.
