Fresno, CA (Sept. 24, 2010) – Fresno-based Electronic Recyclers International, the nation’s largest recycler of electronic waste, is featured in the latest edition of Fortune Magazine.
The photograph that seems to jump out of the page shows an ERI Bobcat operator scooping up a massive amount of e-waste. On the bottom of the page are statistics on the e-waste industry in the United States.
“It was really an honor and a privilege to have Fortune here,” said John Shegerian, chairman and CEO of ERI. “As a young business entrepreneur growing up reading Fortune all the time, and seeing that as one of the really critical business magazines, this is a landmark event for us, and for ERI to appear in Fortune Magazine is just a real honor and a privilege.”
In this issue of Fortune Magazine, Wal-Mart CEO Mike Duke is on the cover, and inside number one companies in their respective sectors are shown. The heading of “F1RST” is placed on top of the photo taken at ERI headquarters in Fresno.
“There couldn’t be a greater association for ERI as being number one in our industry than to be associated with Fortune and Wal-Mart in this magazine under the heading of ‘F1RST.’”
There are seven ERI locations nationally, and the company is the number one e-waste recycling brand in America. Shegerian wants to continue to build e-waste shredders and glass technology across the U.S. He wants 10 facilities in this country by the end of 2012. ERI is also participating in negotiations with India, Asia and Europe to make the company a true international brand.
“We truly intend to become an international and global brand in the coming years,” Shegerian said. “But we’re never going to leave our roots, and our headquarters here in Fresno, Calif.”
